Main Effect
The average influence of a single factor on the response, averaged over all other factor levels.
Also known as: main effect, factor effect
The main effect of a factor is the change in the response when the factor moves from the low to the high level — averaged over all settings of the other factors.
In regression form and coded units (±1), the main effect equals twice the associated regression coefficient. A significant main effect means the factor influences the response within the tested range.
